March 29 The Shipping and .Seamen Amendment 1911. has received Hie Royal Assent, and a proclamation will shortly be issued bringing it into force on Ist Jjav. The onus is placed on owners in sue!) cases of providing for the cost of maintenance ami medicals and other attendance on seamen, and for the cost of liis Initial where illne-s or accident terminates in his deatli in Now Zealand. For breach of these and other provisions of n similar kind a penalty of £IOO is provided.
