The ■ fortnightly stock sale at the Gore yards yesterday was considerably Interfered with by the rain (says the “Ensign.”). The entry of sheep was up to former sales, there bins perhaps a somewhat larger entry than usual of ewes- with lambs at foot. These looked anything but bright and saleable owing to the rain, and buyers were not in a mood to speculate except at reduced rates. The sale dragged and several lots tver.e passed in. The grain and produce market has hardly Settled down since last week’s holidays and consequently little business Is doing. Wheat Is being firmly held, and offerings are somewhat, scarce. The price of flour has been reduced 10s per ton, and the lower price Is being offered for wheat by some of the millers; but growers vyho have offered samples during the last two days have shown no disposition to accept a lower figure than they have lately been asking. Theife !s a good demand for whole fowl wheat, and this tends to keep the price of milling wheat firm. There is no business doing In oats, Of which there are no stocks available. ■ Oat-sheaf chaff Is easier in ' consequence of the good supply of feed, and 553 to 90s Is now being offered at country' stations. Potatoes, pre .now practically unsaleable,’ 25s at country stations being the nominal price. Growers have held too firmly, .and- the close of the season finds more- stocks left than are required, as new potatoes ‘are now on the market.DUNEDEBT STOCK EXCHANGE. , ;V DUNEDIN, Nov. 14.
