ALL SAINTS, GLADSTONE
DArrODIL SHOW AND ENTER-
TAINMENT.
The annual daffodil show and entertainment under the auspices of the congregation of All Saints’ Anglican Church took place yesterday in tlie* Parish Hall. Gladstone. The show opened at it o’clock and was liberally patronised throughout the afternoon. Cor eacli class very large entries were received and. consequently, the interior of the hull .presented a cbarming appearance. Ranged round each side and along the top end were tables upon which the exhibits were artistically laid out in order that the full effect of each bloom could be observed. Daffodils predominated, of course, but nil classes of spring flowers were represented, so that a wealth of colour met the eye. Although intended to be carried out on a small scale, the show would do credit to any Society, in the matter of quality and arrangement, and the promoters are to be congratulated upon their efforts. Mr A. E. .Neman acted us secretary, and associated with him as a committee were the following gentlemen; —-Kevd. W. Swlnburu, Messrs Archer, Cooper, Conner, bowler. Findlay, .Newman, Patlinson and Turpin, all of whom worked assiduously to bring the affair to a successful issue. The music was supplied by Air and Miss Pattlnson, Mr White and Miss MeKea. At 7.30 the show was opened formally by the Revd. W. Swtuba rn.’ Tlie hall was crowded and expressions of admiration were everywhere heard. Well arranged and tempting sueet stalls were presided over by Misses 1 hurls and E. Edginton, while Misses Newman and M. While supplied Lite refreshments. The evening’s programme was us follows; —Songs, Miss McKea, Messrs Ste\ens and Reece; orchestral selection, Mr and Miss Pattlnson and Miss Whyte; recitations. Misses Friend, McGruer and Joss; comedietta, Misses Witty (2), Bourchier, Messrs .Neuman, Findlay and McGruer; Highland Fling, Miss Joss; pipe selection, Mr C. Wilson. The performance was a most enjoyable one and encores were frequent. The judge of the show, Mr F. G. Cox, worked hard and had the satisfaction of pleasing everybody.
