The Surrey is expected to get clear of Bluff on Criday. The Whangapo L. due at Hobart on Saturday iron Bunbury. She is expected at Bluff on the 28th inst., and Is :!ue at Dunedin on October 2. After discharging here she proceeds to Auckland. The Shaw. Savil! and Albion liner Athenic was able to leave London on her time-table date last Thursday, and she sailed from Plymouth on Saturday. The Athenic is due at Capetown on October 7th. Hobart October 26th. Wellington October 31st, and Lyttelton Kovember 7th. The lonic and Turakina, ■which were delayed by the transport strike, are also on their way to Wellington and Lyttelton, a week ahead of ithe Athenic, and the three big steamers wl I arrive on the coast within seven days of one another. The barquentine Carla is still holding Ito her anchors, though the gale is unabated, and a tremendous sea Is running. „ Later. Summary and forecast : Very stormy •weather and heavy seas have been experienced on the East Coast between Napier and Akaroa Peninsula, also in Cook Strait. The weather has been cold, unsettled and showery generally, with high southerly winds in parts. The barometer has risen everywhere. Present indications are for stormy weather between East Cape and Kaikoura and In Cook Strait, with a south-east gale, heavy showers and high seas on the Coast. Strong southerly winds are probable generally ; but decreasing after about eighteen hours. Cold and changeable weather in most parts of the Dominion. but improving after about 24 hours.
