AGRICULTURAL EVENTS FOB WEEK ENDING SEPTEMBER 23rd. —Thursday, September 21 — Stock Sale at Balfour. —Friday, September 22 — Horse Sale at Winton. GORE STOCK SALE. The fortnightly stock sale took place yesterday at the Gore Corporation Yards. There was only a small entry of sheep, some 1600 all told. The bulk of the yarding consisted of store sheep and a few lines of ewes due to lamb about the beginning of next month. Fat sheep were scarce and those forward were only of medium quality. On the whole the sale was dull and kicked anything like spirited bidding. Following were some of the prices, realised Xew Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. ; 31 fat wethers, 17s 9d ; 22 do.. 15s ; 21 fat ewes, Ms Id ; 67 2-tooth ewes (duo to lamb October 1), 17s : 20 hoggets, mixed sexes, 10s ; 3 ewes and lambs, 17s ; 54 ewes, full and failing-mouthed (due to lamb October 1). 13s 5d ; 204 ewe hoggets, 14s 4d ; S4 ewes (in lamb to Romney rams), 12s 3d; and 110 hoggets, mixed sexes, 13s lid. The following lines were passed ; —l4l 2, 4, 6 and S-tooth ewes, 14s ; and 75 do., 13s 9d. The National Mortgage and Agency Co.. Ltd.: 16 fat wethers. ISs lOd ; 33 ewes, with 29 lambs, 10s Id. Passed in : 83 ewes (in lamb to Romney rams), 8s 6d ; and 73 ewes, mixed ages (in lamb). Bs. Henderson and Co. : 59 2, 4 and 6-tooth Romney ewes (in lamb to Romney rams) 15s Sd ; 76 mixed sex hoggets, 6s ; 96 2-tooth ewes, in lamb. 17s 2d. Wright. Stephenson and Co.. Ltd. : 23 mixed sex hoggets. 7s lid ; 25 do., 13s 7d ; 130 do.. 10s sd. Southland Farmers’ Co-operative Association, Ltd., passed in 17 aged rams at ss. LONDON MARKETS. FROZEN MEAT. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London House, under date the 19th Inst. : Frozen Meat.—There is more enquiry for mutton, the market is firmer for lamb, and generally better for beef. CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 19. The British New Zealand Meat Company has received the following cable: — Mutton.—Canterbury, 3Tad to 4%d ; North Island, 3%d to 3%d. Lamb. —Canterbury, od to 5%d ; North Island, 5% d. Beef. —Hinds, 3%d; fores, 2%d. DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE. DUNEDIN, Sept. 19. Stock Exchange sales : Waihl Grand Junction, £1 9s 6d (2 parcels, forward delivery). Sales reported : Waihl Grand Junction, XI 9s 6d. WHEAT. SYDNEY, Sept. 19. Wheat has dropped %d. Parcels are dull at 3s 7d. WAIHI SHARES. LONDON. Sept. 18. Waihl shares, 68s 9d to 71s 3d. CO-OPERATIVE FAILURE. LONDON; Sept. 18. The Sunderland Co-operative Society, which has 14,000 members, has suspended payment owing to the withdrawal <#f £24.000. The directors state that the society Is solvent.
