LAKE COUNTY NOTES
(From Our Own Correspondent). A match was played at Arrowtown on tlie 13th instant, between the Arrowtown and Queenstown Football Clubs. After an interesting game tlie latter team was victorious by 17 points to nil. Mr W. G. Blakie ably controlled tlie game. This was the final maloti for the Cup, but as these two clubs have scored six points each, another match will be played on Wednesday next to decide the winner of the Cup for tills season. A most enjoyable social under the auspices of St. Joseph’s Literary and Debating Club was held in Queenstown on tlie lath instant. Tlie social took the form of progressive euchre and dancing. There was a large attendance, and but for tlie very Inclement weather, a still larger number would have been present. Cards were played for about two boors, when tlie hall was cleared for dancing. Tlie music for tlie dance was provided by Miss Gudgeon (piano), and Mr Hillman (violin), in their usual excellent manner, and Mr MacKay was an efficient M.C. Tlie committee had worked very bard In making all arrangements complete, and it was very gratifying to them that tlie social turned out such a great success. At the last meeting of the Qlieenstown Borougli Council Mold on the 4tM instant, only one tender was received for the erection of tlie Coronation hath house, but ns tills was much beyond the means of tlie Council, It was decided to call for fresit lenders in the Southland Times, Otago Dally Times and tlie local papers, on the plans and specifications of both Mr Fraser and Mr Faulkner, tlie tenders to bo in by noon of the sth October.
