FIRES

FIVE WELLINGTON HOUSES BURNT (Per United Press Association.) \ WELLINGTON, September 19. Five houses at Hataltai were destroyed by fire to-night. Two were unoccupied, the others occupied by Patrick O’Kane, J. Godfrey, and Gilbert Hall. Three of the houses were owned by Bird Bros. A hurricane was blowing at the time of the fire, which originated in O’Kane’s house. The whole of the five were burnt to the ground. Insurances are not ascertainable to-night.
