STRIKE ZH ZREXiAHD. GENERAL STOPPAGE FEARED SITUATION UNDER CONTROL. [By Telegraph.—Press Association. —Copyright.], LONDON, Sept. 17. The timber men at Dublin have struck on account of the masters declining to recognise the Irish Transport Workers’ Union. Four hundred men In the goods department of the (Great South-Western Hallway at Kingsbridge street have struck, declining to handle timber. LONDON, September' 18. Received September IS, 11.20 p.m. A general railway stoppage In Ireland Is threatened. Porters have struck at Limerick. Troops are being held in readiness at Dublin. BRITISH POSTAL SERVICE. LONDON, Sept. 17. The postal employees’ campaign for the redress of grievances and an Increase of pay has been inaugurated at Glasgow, and is being widely supported. . The conditions of service are declared to be intolerable, and a resolution has been passed urging the appointment of a committee in the House of Commons to hoid an inquiry. BRISTOL MINERS STRIKE. LONDON, Sept. 17. Twelve hundred miners have struck at Bristol, demandihg that the same increases should be granted as in Somerset. LABOUR EXCHANGE BOYCOTTED. LONDON, Sept. 17. The unemployed at Leicester are boycotting the labour exchange on the ground that men are sent after positions are already filled, or several are sent to one job, which is given to the man accepting the lowest wage. SPANISH TROUBLES. i MADRID. Sept. 17. The Labour Federation at Saragossa has struck in sympathy with the Bilbao men. The strikes at Aviedo and Malofa have ended. Tim NEWCASTLE TROUBLE. SYDNEY, Sept. 17. The Australian wheelers’ notices at the New Lambton and Sea pits have expired. They will not start to-day, adding largely to the thousand miners already idle. The Newcastle trouble threatens other collieries in the near future. SYDNEY, September IS. Received September 18, 11.20 p.m. A meeting of Seapit wheelers decided to withdraw notices, leaving the board to settle their grievances. The pit continues working. THE WHEAT HANDLERS. SYDNEY, September 18. Received September IS, 11.20 p.m. A hllfth has occurred in the wheat handlers settlement. Shippers agreed to increase the handling rates; but the’ stevedores refused the increases. Loading has not been resumed. A CO-OPERATIVE SCHEME. PERTH, Sept. 18. The colliers on strike at Collebum colliery have accepted the offer of the Scottish Colliers’ Company to take over and work the property as a co-operative concern. A company has been formed with 250 shares of £IOO each, and starts, operations to-day.
