THE PEACOCK MURDER CASE

Two female employees of Dr Peacock (charged with the murder of Miss Davies) gave evidence that they saw •Miss .Davies at the hospital. Peacock arranged . that both employees should take a holiday prior to the girl’s disappearance. He warned one not to mention anything about the place. When the last Melbourne mail left search was being continued for the body of the missing woman Mary Margaret Davies, but still with no success. Assuming that the woman is actually dead (says the Age), is is acknowledged by the detectives to be extremely doubtful whether the body of the woman ever will be found. , The police are making inquiries as to the whereabouts of a Mr Durham, who it is stated was an assistant to the late' Mr Bailey, the dentist at Ballarat, who supplied Miss Davies with a set of artificial teeth. If this, person be -found, he will be asked whether he can identify the remains of the dental plate which was found on the spot where a fire had been kindled on Dr Peacock’s farm at Carrum.
