NOBLEMAN AND ACTRESS. LONDON, Sept. 7. Mary Pergusson, an American actress, and a .Russian nobleman, Prince Alexander Ivnnovilch, were to-day sentenced at the Old Bailey to five years’ imprisonment for shoplifting. The judge ordered that upon the expiration of their .sentences the prisoners wore to he deported. A communication from the New York police showed that the prince was a notorious hank thief, and that his female associate was wanted in America for having absconded while under bail. “BURSTING” THE TRUSTS. ■WASHINGTON, Sept. C. It is reported that a suit will shortly he filed against the Southern Pacific Hallway and the Kern Oil Trading Company for the recovery of 100,000,00b acres of Californian oil lands, the estimated value of which is £80,000,000. This will he the first step towards carrying out President Taft's declared policy of wresting lands which it is alleged are illegally held by certain interests.
