TOWN AND COUNTRY. Mr Wm. Scott lias purchased through Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co. Mr David Scott’s fine farm at Hokonui, con-sisting-of 300 acres of good agricultural land. Mr Wm. Scott also owns the adjoining properly, and the combination makes the 'holding a very desirable one. One of the best known farms in the Drummond district, owned by- Mr James O’Brien, and consisting of 600 odd acres of first-class land, lias been purchased through the National Mortgage and Agency Co. by Mr Chas. Calder, who recently disposed of his Taringatura farm to Mr Kirkwood. Mr Calder is to be congratulated on his purchase. Mr O’Brien intends to retire from farming, and will probably in future reside in Invercargill. Messrs Wright, .Stephenson and Co. have disposed of Mr James Eaton’s property. Strath allan. Dipton. to Mr Sydney Colley, of Otautau. - The property- is a very fine one. the land possessing excellent wheat-growing qualities: Mr Colley, who is an experienced farmer, should in Uie course of a few years greatly improve and enhance the value of the property.
Mr Sampson Button has sold his farm of UO acre--, situated at Browns, thiough the National Mortgage and Ager.cv Co. to Mr Louis Zwciss, of Kokonui.
To-night at 7.30 o'clock Mr .1. Holloway will offer by public auction eight freehold sections at Wellesley, facing the main North road. Those sections are offered on liberal terms, and are good building sites.
Air T. Cochrane has disposed of his SOb-odd-acre farm, held under l.i.p. tenure,’ adjoining Clifton Station, to Airs Carnegie Gardiner at a satisfactory figure. The deal included tiie sheep on tiie property. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. effected tiie deal.
Air James Beer’s farm of 350 acres, situated within two miles of Aiossburn township,- lias been sold through the National Al-ortgage and Agency Co. to Mr A. Roy, also of 'Aiossburn. Air Beer’s cleaving sale is advertised for September 25. aml after that date Air Roy will take possession.
At Gore on Thursday, Afessrs T. Green and Co. submitted to auction a section at East Gore, on which are two four-s roomed and a three-roomed cottage, also a workshop and a quantity of blacksmith's tools. After spirited bidding the lot was knocked down to an Invercargill purchaser at £7OO.
Tiie N.Z. Loan and .Mercantile Agency Co. report having sold as a going concern Mr James Dunnery’s Burwood and Aiavora stations to Mr and Mrs A. Cochrane, formerly of Mararoa Station, at a price in tiie vicinity of £30,000. Tiie property consists of 166.500 acres of leasehold, and is at present carrying 700 cattle, and 20,000 sheep.
One of the finest properties in Southland cl;tinged hands last week, when tiie National Alortgagc and Agency Co. sold Air E. Prendergast’s farm near Otautau to Air Alex. Sounoss, of Temuka, The property possesses rich beat y soil, ami is a portion of some of the finest wheatgrowing land in the Province. Air Souness will arrive shortly and will lake possession of his purchase. The price paid is said to lie £23 per acre.
