WINTON COURT REPORT.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —I notice that Mr Walter Mclnerney has taken exception to my report Of the police case at Wiuton on Monday last, and alleges that in the Winton notes oi the 13th September he is ret ported "as having said (IX HIS EVIDENCE) that "they” asked If there'was any chance of a drink! There is no such statement in the report attributed to Mr Walter Mclnerney as evidence: this was the statement of the police. Will Mr Walter Mclnerney deny that the police gave this evidence? Mr Mclnerney's evidence is dealt with In the notes In about two lines. I would advise Mr Walter Mclnerney to read the Winton notes of the 13th September again, and if as in his letter he still persists in alleging that the statement referred 'to is by the report attributed to him as evidence then it Is hopeless to deal with Mr Walter Mclnerney. Mr Walter Mclnerney has ven you some gratuitous advice. Well, perhaps he will not be above receiving some. Let him not be too prone to charge bias by innuendo or otherwise to people when they tell the truth, also that he should make sure that his charges are correct before rushing into pr'nt.—l am, etc., YOUR CORRESPONDENT. Winton, 14th September.
