Sir, —Could you inform me and your numerous readers and also fellow-rate-payers whyfthe metal and gravel excavated from the lino of tramway is not used in ballasting the said tramways. By doing so a groat saving would accure to the ratepayers and the job would be as efficient, if not more so. Hoping you will see fit to publish these few linos, and an explanatory note likewise. — Tours in anticipation, HOME RULE. [lt has to be explained that what has been suggested by our correspondent is already being done on the tramway works. The metal that is excavated is used in topping off the new metal when the trenches are being filled in. Such metal as is not being used for this purpose Is being put to profitable use in various maintenance and formation work in the town. Nothing Is being wasted.—Ed. S. T.].
