BOEING. A SURPRISING ANNOUNCEMENT. J. JOHNSON v. SAM LANGFORD. (By Telegraph.—Press Association. —Copyright.) LONDON, July 13. Great surprise has been occasioned in sporting circles by the “Chronicles publication of a cablegram from Sydney that a fight had been arranged between Jack Johnson and Sam Langford on the Sydney Sports Ground on December 26, the New South Wales Government generally supervising the arrangements and receiving 10 per cent, of the takings. JOHNSON DENIES THE REPORT. LONDON, July 13. Johnson denies that he has, been approached by Mr Mclntosh or anyone else with respect to meeting Langford. He says he will not fight Langford without a bet of IO.OOOdoI (£2.000) and a substantial purse for his end. Johnson states that he Is arranging to visit Australia at the conclusion of his English engagement.
