CYCLISTS IN TROUBLE

AN ENERGETIC OFFICER. Inspector Murdoch, in response to a memorandum from the Town Council with reference to cyclists riding on the footpaths, has been making work for the Magistrate. He reported to the Council last night that at 6 p.m. on the evening of the 4th instant, in company with Constable McDonough, lie took up a position at the corner of Gala and Doon streets, and in less than twenty minutes' time they secured the names and addresses of five persons for violating section 45 of the cycling by-law. The following morning at T. 30, in company with Constable Bonner, he took up a position at the corner of Elies and Oteramika roads, and within 45 minutes’ time they secured no less than eleven offenders, under section 46 of the by-law. A few more bad been added since, making a total of twenty informations set down for hearing at the Police Court on the 26th Inst.
