BRITISH POLITICS
TBS VETO BILL. CONSIDERING THE POSITION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright.) LONDON, July 12. Received July 12, 10.10 p.m. Unionist leaders are holding meetings and considering whether they will force the Government to carry the Parliament Bill with fresh peers or be satisfied that possible new peers to be created will offer no resistance. The Yorkshire “Post'” and the Birmingham “Post” deprecate the peers prolonging the contest till the Crown swamps resistance. The “Telegraph” expects the Government not to consent to remove Home Rule outside the Bill’s scope or to recognise .the necessity of a referendum; but hope that they will accept the exclusion of the Crown and Protestant succession from the Bill, and reject Lord Cromer's joint committee • for money bills; but will agree to a purely House of Commons committee under the speaker and accept Lord Newton's amendment as a new clause. Welsh Liberals, expecting the adoption of the Bill, are organising a campaign for disestablishment. It is expected that the Lords will read the Bill thirdly on Tuesday. The Commons will then consider the Bill immediately. The Master of Elibank has completed a list of five hundred peers, including a number of Commoners, necessitating byelection preparations in theip constituencies. This has led many Unionists to believe that a general election is imminent.
