THE SEDITIOUS MEETINGS BIDE. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright). CALCUTTA, March 21. Received March 21. 11.25 p.m. The Seditious Meetings Bill has passed the Indian Council. Indian members deprecated the measure as permanent legislation, but thanked the Government for removing the most objectionable features of the old bill. Lord Harding (Viceroy) said that the Act would be extended to a district only when necessary, and he hoped that it would remain a dead letter. The population of India totals 315,000,000.
