BOMBAY’S POPULATION. (By T*i*cnpb.—Pren Association.—Copyright.) CALCUTTA, March 16. Received March 16, 10.24 p.m. The census of Bombay shows a population of 972,892. It Is estimated that 40,000 are temporarily absent owing to depression, plague, and holidays. THE VITERBO TRIAL. ROME, March 15. Many Viterbo residents have been severely fined for refusing jury service. The trial has been delayed owing to inability to complete the panel. FRANCE AND MOROCCO. PARIS, March 16. The Government is despatching infantry and artillery to Casablanca to punish the murderers of Major Marchand in January last. FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE. LONDON. March 15. Fifty-five cattle, seven swine, and 165 sheep were slaughtered at Chobham, whereof eighteen cattle and five swine were affected by foot and mouth disease.
