Mr Tudor, Minister of Customs, is not disposed, without further consideration, to agree that there should be freetrade between Australia and New Zealand. He points out that New Zealand killed the last effort to secure reciprocity. If the Dominion desired to re-open negotiations the Government would give the fnatter favourable attention. SEHIOUS FLOODS. SYDNEY, March If. Cyclonic storms and torrential rain have been experienced in several country towns. Many houses have been unroofed and much damage has been done to property and crops by wind and floods. , , J HOBART, March 14. Heavy rain and floods continue. The Huon river is in high flood, and lowIving parts of the town are inundated. Some residents have vacated their houses. A boy named Cordwell has been drowned. PEDESAL BRICKWORKS. MELBOURNE, March 14. • Received March 15, 1.17 a.m. Mr O’Malley intends to establish brickworks within the Federal territory to manufacture brick; for the Fedeial capital buildings.
