Mr Irving was of opinion (hat.the free luncheon to members should be discontinued. Stock Fair.—• Progress was reported in regard to the Btm-k Fair, which is to be held in April towards defraying the outlay on the new show grounds. Borough or County ? The matter of the propositi of the Tnvenargill Town Council to take the new show grounds into the area of the borough was discussed. The Secretary reported that, whilst the rates now paid to the County amounted to £G 2s Cd. tHo borough rates would entail an expenditure of £lO 7s Gd; in addition the rates on improvements would be proportionately increased. The only advantage of the transfer would in his opinion be that water from the town supply would be available but at the same time it would not actually he required for twelve months hence. On the proposition of Mr King, seconded by -Mr Guppies, it was decided to hold the matter over for 12 months, and in the meantime to oppose tiie Council’s proposals. —The Recent Show.— The Secretary presented a rough balance - sheet of the recent summer show a .•%.-■ h j! of £390 being recorded as compare,! -vith £l5O for the previous year’s sltow. In eacli case, the receipts had increased, the following'-being the items, the figures for 1909 being given in parenthesis, viz.: Gate money, £735 (£536). entries £3G9 (£339). special cash prizes £lsl (£140), privileges £44 (£22), guessing tickets £2l (£10). The expenses had totalled £931 Ms 3d (prize-money £6-11. 2s), as against £893 5.s (prize-money £C23 ISs) for 1909. The President considered it a matter for congratulation that they were able to record a thoroughly successful show and e highly favourable balance - sheet. He thought that the success was in largo measure duo to the kindness of Mr A. F. Hawke in arranging for (he buck-jump-ing competition on the first day. and to Mr Dennison Cuttibert.son’s energy in canvassing for entries at tiie neighbouring shows. The management of the luncheon booth on the second day was capable of improvement, but ollierwl.se everything was carried through most satisfactorily. Tiie balance - sheet was adopted and recognition of the services rendered by Mr Hawke and the assistant secretary was ordered to be recorded on the minutes. In the matter of tiie loss of £24 having been sustained by Mr Hawke in providing the horse for tiie buck-jumping, the deatli of one of the animals being mainly responsible for the deficit, the President suggested that it would be a graceful act for the Association to relibve Mr Hawke of the loss sustained.—The President’s suggestion was unanimously adopted. The President remarked (hat it was probable that the buckjumping would be followed by other innovations for increasing the attractions of the first day of Hie show.
