CORRUPTION IN CANADA

SERIOUS ALLEGATIONS, (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright). OTTAWA, Jan. 26. During the sitting of the Commission of Investigation on Chinese immigration, Mr Joseph Martin, British M.P., charged the Liberal party throughout British Columbia with wholesale corruption, and alleged that Sir W. Laurier was primarily blameworthy for the graft which permeated every department of the Federal Government. Conflicting evidence was given as to whether Mr Terapleman, Federal Minister of Inland Revenue and Mines, had stated confidentially that he desired the Royal Commission on Immigration to be stopped. Mr Templeman has been summoned to give evidence on the point.
