IRISH HOME RULE AB OTHER PROBLEMS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright.) LONDON, Jan. 27. Received Jan. 27, 10 p.m. Mr John Redmond, in a magazine article, declines to assent to the postponement of Home Rule until England. Spotland Wales want Parliaments. He says: “Nationalists do not object to federalism as an ultimate aim, but Ireland must have a constitution immediately.” Mr "Joseph Chamberlain, at Birmingham, declared that it was unthinkable that the Lords would pass the Parliament Bill. It would be unconstitutional for the Government to advise the creation of peers to coerce them. Mr J. A. Simon, M.P., speaking at Braintree, said that the Government’s bill was definite and precise. It did not Involve the abolition of Second Chamber, but submission to the deliberate and reiterated will of the nation. A referendum had a democratic air, but it involved Connemara peasants voting on English education. It would destroy the responsibility of members of Parliament and Ministers of the Crown. Mr Harold Cox, Unionist Freetrader, is the unofficial candidate for Cambridge University. He declares that as long as Mr Balfour’s promise of the refendum is maintained he is prepared to support him at any by-election as a Unionist Tariff reformer in preference to a Freetrade Liberal. Petitions have been lodged against the election of Mr C. F. Masterman, member for West Ham, and R. Mathias, member for Cheltenham, in connection with their return of election expenses.
