The Wanaka left Wellington at 12.15 p.m. yesterday for Bluff. The N.M. and A. Co. report that the s.s. Athenic arrived at Wellington at 7 p.m. on Wednesday- Cargo and passengers will be brought south by the s.s. Moeraki. C.S.a CO. STEAMER MOVEMENTS. Saturday, 2Sth Jan—Wanaka arrives from Auckland about noon. Tuesday, 31st Jan. Wanaka leaves for Napier, Gisborne and Auckland on arrival of 11.25 a.m. train. Monday, 3t)lh Jan. —Moeraki arrives from Sydney via North about 7 a.m. and leaves for Hobart and Melbourne on arrival of 3.35 p.m. train from InverCa Monday, 30th Jan. —Manuka arrives from Melbourne and Hobart about 7 turn.. and leaves for Sydney via North, on arrival of 1.45 p.m. train from Invercargill. Monday, 30th Jan. —Koonya arrives from Grevmouth about 7 a.m. and leaves for New Plymouth, Westport and Greyjnouch on arrival of 11.25 a.m. train. DIRECT SHIPMENTS TO BLUFF. DUNEDIN, Jan. 26. Arrived —Tarawera from Lyttelton. Sailed —Rimutaka for Lyttelton ; Putaki for West Coast via way ports ; Breeze for Wanganui via way ports. THE WEATHER. WELLINGTON, Jan. 25. Following is Mr Bates’ summary and forecast :—The barometer has risen in the southern districts, but fallen in the North. The weather has been hazy and humid conditions have prevailed everywhere. Rain set in over the South Island during the night with moderate to strong southerly winds. Present indications are for rain in most parts of the country, especially over the North Island and East coast of , the South. Southerly winds, strong to a gale, in parts, will probably prevail. The barometer will probably fall for several hours in the North, but rise very high in the South.
