Stimulated by the all-British shopping movement, arrangements are being made to hold a fair of fashions in conjunction with the Festival of Empire, the fair to bo confined to goods of British material or manufacture. Many Continental costumiers and milliners applied for space in the International Fashions Exhibition scheme, which has been abandoned in favour of the all-British. A NOVELIST 'SHOT. NEW YORK, Jan. 24. David Graham Phillips, editor and novelist, has been shot ip New York, ,His assailant, a Harvard man named Fitzhugh Goldsborough, shot himself with a revolver, dying instantly. It is believed that Goldsborough was insane. Phillips will probably recover. The motive of the crime is unknown. NEW YORK, Jan. 25. Received Jan. 2(1, 12.5 a.m. Phillips, the author, who was shot in New York, has succumbed to his injuries.
