SOME EXPLANATIONS. (By Telegraph—Presa Association —Copyright). SYDNEY, Jan. 28. Received 23, 10 p.m. Mr Foster Fraser, In a letter to th® newspaper “Sun” dealing with Austra* lian reviews of his book on Australia, says ;—“Drawing a general impression from the lot, the conscious verdict is: "You are a libeller.’ ” He claims that whatever comment he made was warmhearted affection for the land and the people behind the pen. It was said that his facts were wrong : May be, but ha got them from Government 'publications and officials and Australian newspapers. Mr Fraser concludes : “I cannot say anymore. X used my pen, as I hoped, foe the advantage of the country.” SYDNEY, Jan. 23. Received 23, 10.10 p.m. Mr Foster Fraser mentions that after a well-known Australian had read tha manuscript of his book l\e sent the first half to Sir G. Reid, who suggested a number of corrections. Mr Fraser pointed out that some of these conflicted with matter culled from Government books. Sir G. Reid was huffed and returned the rest of the manuscript, saying that he would take no response bility for the book.
