The following is .Messrs Dalgety and Co.'s weekly report, dated London, (itli October:— Market in denonil.—There is no important change to report litis week. Demand has been very limited on the uarkel with prices firm at lust quotations. Krj/.en Mutton.—There has been a fair demand e.\ store but very little doing "oil* the hooks." Medium weight* have advanced to (lie price of light carcases, otherwise there is no change to report. Then-'is no difficulty in buying at quoted priee-i, but It is not so easy to sell. Frozen Lamb.—Demand is slack "off the hooks" with prices unchanged at last quotations. Frozen Reef.—Trices are firm and unchanged in store but demand is extremely limited, ('billed quarters are IUI firmer but meet with little enquiry. Pork. —-There has been a fair number of frozen pigs on our market from New Zealand works which have realised good prices. Messrs Gilbert Anderson and Co. wrote on October 7th:- Better -weather lias brought good trade /ill round. Shorter supplies of Home and foreign meat prices have been firm, with a slight advance towards the close, Scotch lambs selling nt (id, and Dutch mutton at OhJlled beef advanced during the week, but closed at last week's prices. Large quantities are to arrive during the next three weeks. Frozen beef prices remain the same, but the market is weak, and prospect-; doubtful. Light arrivals of frozen mutton and lamb: prices have been firm at last week's quotation. Shipments advised continue to be light. Stocks in store at all centres are in limited quantities. Considerable anxiety is felt at the delav in Australian shipments, owing to the strike. This, with the report of a good season, and large quantities of stock, makes the future doubtful, and fear a congested market later on. Meanwhile, prospects of good prices for early shipments continue.
