WOODLANDS SCHOOL CONCERT.

The annual school concert, which eventuated on Friday evening last, was in every respect successful. Tim night was beautifully line, and as a result there was a bumper house, (lie Public Hall lining era mim'd lo Hm doors. This, must he extremely gratifying to the School Committee, whose exchequer will lie replenished as a result. The first part of the concert was solely given over to the children, who. under the management of their teachers, rendered a kindcrspiel entitled “The Happy !• amily." For upwards of an 1 j our Hie children fairly revelled in their speeches and songs and choruses. The dresses and costumes were in many instances quite original in their way, ami while the whole affair reflected great credit upon those responsible for the preparation of the various parts, it was equally evident Hint die mothers of the scholars had not spared themselves in dressing Iheir bairns in appropriate garb. 'I lie whole affair went without a hitch apparently. and at its conclusion ihe apprecialion of the audience was most demonstrative. The second half of tim programme was contributed by adnll performers. Hie following ladies and gentlemen taking part ; Alesdames McPherson and Lament, Aliss Simon. Messrs 11. Crawford. U. Allan, and J. Munro gave songs. Aliss AlcKerchar a recitation, Air T. McKay bagpipe selection. while Misses S. Hannan. Simon, and Gunn shared the duties of accompanists during the evening. Air James Linklaler, chairman of committee, who presided, gave an outline of the finances of flie local committee, and at Hie conclusion moved a hearty vote ot thanks to. all who had assisted in any way. particularly mentioning the children and those who had worked them up so well for the occasion. The concert concluded with a verse of “ God Save the King, after which a dance was held, finishing up somewhere about throe o’clock.
