Eggena and La Milo, the well-known music hall posturer, have been committed for trial on charges of fraud. The cross-examination of witnesses suggests that the defence will be that the prisoners obtained the jewels, which form the subject of the charge against them, for the purpose of selling them to the King of Portugal’s suite during liis recent visit to London. BATAVIA CHOLERA OUTBREAK. SYDNEY’, March IS.
Tito manager of the .Royal Packet .Steam Navigation Company yesterday received a cable from Batavia, slating that 111 0 outbreak of cholera had practically died out. The captain of the company's steamer, which lias just arrived, expressed surprise at the cabled report of the ravages of the disease. When lie left there was no serious epidemic. The town hud just recovered from the recent outbreak.
