BOOK NOTICES.

“The Divorce .and Matrimonial Causes Act and Rules thereunder," by His Honour Mr Justice Sim; published by Messrs Whitcombe and Tombs.

The author, who has already achieved distinction as one of the authors of "The Practice of\ th# Supreme Court and Court of Appeal of New Zealand,” and as sole author of the third edition of that work recently Issued, -states In the preface that tiie purpose of the present book is to supply an edition in' convenient form of the Divorce Act and Pules with a fairly complete index. The author has maintained the high standard of excellence attained in his former efforts as a text-book writer, and has made copious reference to numerous English and New Zealand cases dealing with this complex subject. We can heartily commend the book to the members of the legal profession. Of necessity the sale of the work will bo practically confined to legal practitioners who will doubtless recognise the necessity of having a copy on their shelves. The published price is 15s, and the work can be procured from any of the publishers’ branches.

'The Land Transfer Act, 190S, with iiftroduction notes and forms,” by David Hutchen.

We have received from the publishers (Messrs Whitcombe and Tombs) a copy of the above work by David Hutchen, of New Plymouth, N.Z., barrister of the Supreme Court of Now Zealand. The book consists of a full table of cases followed by an introduction of 42 pages dealing generally with the subject matter, and thereafter the act is fully .set out with cordons references to New Zealand, Australian, and English decisions. The work concludes with a useful set of forms and a general index. So far as we have had an opportunity of testing the work it seems to be all that can be desired, and will prove an invaluable addition, to the practitioner’s book-fidielvc.-i of New Zealand local text books. The book should also commend itself to land brokers and others having dealings with land transactions. The price, 17s, is reasonable. We observe that the author states in the preface that the book takes the place of a second edition of the book called "The Land Transfer Acts in New Zealand,” published by him tind Mr H. C. Wright in 1001. the la’ttor book being rendered out of date by the consolidation of the Acts and tin? runner-* ous decisions of the Courts since the first edition was issued.
