Manawatu Tennis Tournament began to-day before a large attendance. Fisher, Prouse and Stow are the three most prominent players engaged. In the semifinal in the men’s championship singles, Prouse beat Fisher 9—4, the result being a surprise. Fisher is still in the men’s handicap singles. In the men’s champion doubles, first round, Fisher and Prouse beat Johnston and Pharazyn 9 —o; StoW and Collins beat Wither and Waldegrave 9 —2. ’
