The Prime Minister informed a r(y porter to-day that the Valuation Department will be merged with the Land and Income Tax Department. Mr P. Heyes will take over the position of Valuer-General in addition to ids present duties. Colonel Davies, C.8., will proceed to England next month to be attached ;o the War Office for twelve months for instruction purposes. Consequent on the promotion of Mr Harrington to Nelson, Mr C. B. Hawke, officer in charge of telegraph's at Auckland, will be transferred to Wellington.
