Per United Preea Aseoelation. CHRISTCHURCH, April SO. Flags at most of the business places in town were flown at half-mast to-day as a mark of respect to the memory of the late Mr Stead. Numerous telegrams of sympathy and expressions of appreciation of the worth of the deceased gentleman have been received at ‘‘The Press” office throughout to-day from all parts of the Dominion. The messages include communications of condolence from the chairman of directors and from the manager of the Press Association, as well as from newspaper proprietors and staffs in different New Zealand centres. The meeting of the Christchurch Tramway Board (of which the late Mr Stead was one of the earliest and most prominent members) which was to have been held to-morrow afternoon, will be adjounred till the next day, it being the intention of all the members of the hoard, together with the principal officers, to attend the funeral.
