A box containing thirty plugs of dynamite with a partially burned fuse attached, were found under the big gun at tho fort. It is believed an attempt has been made to blow up the fort, where a large number of live shells are stored. (The population of Thursday Island is largely alien, and the place is dominated by Japanese.)
