GIVES INTERESTING INFORMATION. (Per United Press Association.) DUNEDIN, April 28. In the course of conversation today with Staff-Sergt.-Major Burgess, a Press representative gleaned some interesting information relative to the present frontier trouble in India. " I was twenty years on the Indian frontier," he said, "and I have often come Into contact with these natives. They can raise about 15,000 fighting men and they are cruel, cunning and treacherous. They are reckless fighters. A I'ew years af?i>, I remember, they attacked a small town .iust outside of Peshawur (where the British had 10,000 troops), and burnt it. The Somersets, and a couple of batteries were sent out against them; but the natives attacked and the British had to retire. Eventually the native.-; were forced backover the border, as will happen in this case. Until their country is strongly garrisoned they will always menace the British on the frontier.
