It rs Mr H. TV. Norris’s intention to accept the exhibition which lias been awarded to him by the Associated Board of the Royal Academy and the Royal College of Music, London, and he hopes to take up his studies in London in January, 1909. Mrs J. MacFarlane of Coldstream, who died on Friday night, says a Christchurch message, ranked among the very earliest colonists, having ax’ rived in Wellington with her father, Air Donald Cameron, in the ship Blenheim in IS4I. Seven years later she married Mr John MacFarlane, who had landed in Nelson in 1842 and afterwards removed to Wellington in 1850. Three weeks before the arrival of the first
four ships she and her husband camo to Canterbury and took up the Loburn run, where they lived until 1862. They then removed to Coldstream, where Mr MacFarlane died in 1884.
The marble bust of the late Mr Beddon, sculped by Mr Nelson Illingworth, was placed in the main entrance to the Government Building yesterday. Its permanent home, says a Wellington message, will lie in the Parliamentary library. The bust stands upon a pedestal of polished green granite, upon the front of which the name “Seddon” is inscribed in bronze. The height of the buste, with Us pedestal, is six feet six inches.
A London cable reports that the Prince of Wales will represent the Sovereign at Sir H. C.-Bannerman’s funeral service at the Abbey. M. Clemenceau, the French Premier, will attend and the Kaiser will he represented.
Mr S. Nlchol, with Mrs and Miss Nichol, returned yesterday by the Ulimaroa from a holiday trip to Tasmania.
