A Stack Burner

CAUQiHT AT RIVEBSDALB* OVER £4OO DAMAGE. Per United Press Association. GORE, July 28. A rather extraordinary occurence is reported from Rivorsdale this morning. A number of fires were observed over the plain. A settler, making investigation, saw a man deliberately setting fire to several strew stacks. The settler obtained assistance, but meantime the man had reached the next farm and had set lire to three oat sheaf stacks and also several straw stacks. The two victims pursued and secured him. In all..he burned 15 stacks, valued at over £4OO. The man was brought to Gore to-night for medical examination, ho seemingly being a lunatic, lie arrived in the district several days ago, is about 50 years of age, and gives his name as George Murray. He states that he has a wife and three children in Dunedin.
