ASSOCIATION FORMED AT GORE. A meeting was held recently in tlie temperance hall. Gore, at which .Mr Forties pros!tied, and Mr Calebs i .secretary of tho Auckland I ranch of the International Arbitration and IVa-e Association) delivered a short and interesting lecture on the aims and objects of the society and disposed of many fallacious ideas in connection with it, and on military affairs and international politics. The address was received with unanimous approval. At the close, it was decided that, a branch should be termed here. A committee was thereupon sot up, and office bearers for surrounding districts were, appointed. On Monday night tho committee. with Mr Forbes as chairman, held its first business mooting at which it was decided to aililiate with (be F palish Association and semi a small contribution to it, and an order for suitable literature for the socitdy. The chairman reported (hat he had enrolled eighteen members since tlv meeting', and that ho expected more very soon. Some other bnsin/’ss of minor importance was done mid it was decided to hold meetings every alternate month fopen to the publiic) the. next to be held on (he 29th May.
