The Butchers’ Strike
/SETTLED IN WELLINGTON. Vcr United tress Association. WELLINGTON, Eel;. 19. The slaughtermen's strike has ended, and the nun have resumed work at the Meat Export Co-.’s works, the company giving 23s per hundred. Mr Foster, manager of the Meat Export Company, says this crisis has proved that the Act is absolutely valueless so far as employers are concerned. A new agreement has been drawn up and will probably bb signed by the slaughtermen amd the freezing companies in a few days. In this it is provided, the men, explain, that 23s a hundred shall be paid for killing ; two shillings an hour will be paid for waiting time/ and work performed on Saturday froui 12 o’Clock until 4 p.m. will be paid at the rate of time and a quarter. . Otherwise the agreement is very much the same as the award which recently expind.
