Tho retiring batsman had played the best cricket of Lis side, and his score included five fours. The fourth and Cflh wickets fell in quick succession. The sixth fell nt 11G, and the seventh at 133. Richardson, the local skipper, and S. Hickson then became associated, and the total was carried to 163 before the former, who had played a cautious innings, was dismissed. The ninth wicket fell three runs later, but the last two men livened up again, and 191 was on the board before Branston brought the innings to a close, the total being 10 behind that of the Englishmen. With fifty minutes to play the Englishmen began their second innings, and lost four wickets for IT. when Burns and Harrison came together, and they began scoring freely, until. just on the call of time Harrison was clean bowled and the giia'd ended in a draw.
