Accidents and Deaths
Per United Press Association. WELLINGTON, Fob. 16. A man named W. C. Creamer, employed as head gardener for Mr John Duthie at Lower Hutt, received fatal injuries by getting entangled in some belting attached to an oiLengine and used for pumping jwater yesterday afternoon. When Creamer was discovered he was lying in an unconscious state on the floon - of the enginehouse. He never regained consciousness and died about 5 o’clock this morning. Deceased was a single man, about 34 years of age. His people live-at Auckland, but formerly resided at Wanganui. ANOTHER COACH ACCIDENT. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 16.
An accident happened to the Kai-koura-Waiau coach yesterday. Just after leaving the Conjay cutting, one of the horses became restive and got across the pole. The team became unmanageable ; the king bolt came out, and the horses got away with the fore carriage. The driver, Saxton, was injured in the calf of the leg, the ironwork of the brake inflicting a nasty wound. He is in a very low condition through loss of blood. Two passengers were thrown out of tho coach, hut escaped injury. The coach was considerably damaged and arrived at Waiau 3£ hours late.
