CHRISTCHURCH, June 22. Fifteen Maoris have arrived to undertake the work in connection with tho Maori pah. The Union and Huddart-Parker Companies, it is estimated will be able to carry from 8000 to 10,000 passengers from. 1 Australia to New Zealand per month. The sports ground is now practically finished ; also the concert hall; tho fernery and the art gallery. In connection with the decision of the Entertainment Committee to adjourn indefinitely as a protest against tho failure of the Executive to reply to letters, the Chief Commissioner states that ho does not know of any correspondence! that has hot been attended to. Tho Chairman of the Committee states that they had written on the 31st May, and again on June 7th, and neither of these communications had been taken the slightest notice of. The culmination of the matter would bring before the Executive the important question of its own status, as to whether resolutions passed by the Executive were to be ignored by the Commissioners. If so, then the Executive had no standing whatever. This was a point which the executive committee would no doubt deal with on Thursday.
