Ist’ May the salary, ot the recentlyappointed town clerk be increased Xroni £6OO to £BOO per annum. Mrs James Familton, who died at Oniuaru yesterday in her 59th year, was the second European child born in Duncdiii. Her father, Donald Ross, was well-known in the early history of Dunedin, having arrived from Wellington before the arrival of the first emigrant ship from the Old Country in 1818, In 1868 The deceased lady was married to Mr James Familton by Rev, Dir Stuart, and shortly after removed to Oamaru, where she had since resided. | A Dunedin accountant who did the secretarial work for more than one dredging company has disappeared. The apathy of the merchants has already been commented on, and now the Finance Committee of the City Council recommend that an application by the local advisory cbmjmitlce for a grant of £2OO bo declined.
