At. a meeting of the Charitable Aid Hoard fo-day a long- discussion took place on the findings of the Commission appointed to investigate the Waltham orphanage , trouble. A motion was adopted ” that in the opinion of the Board the Commissioners’ findings (a) that the orphanage has been improperly managed and controlled, (b) that the allegations of the absence of moral training were proved, (c) that the charge of lack of example and influence was fru», were not home out by the evidence adduced at the enquiry ” ; also, “that it was the duty of the Slate to look after its children, and | the Hoard asked the Government to i take tin’ necessary steps to miry it into effect during the next session of Parliament.” The Board resolved to i-a.ain (lie orphanage as a receiving homo and to advertise for a now matron. i
