Tennis

A combined team from the Western district, drawn from the Winton, Otautau. and Nightcaps Tennis Clubs, visited; Invercargill yesterday to play a match against the Invercargill Club at the I’ark Courts. The weather was simply perfect, and no one felt disposed to quarrel with it. though the intense heat was at times rather disconcerting to Uio players. Imler the circumstances there were few who did not avail themselves of the opportunity to partake of afternoon tea, which was nicely served by the ladies of Hie Invercargill Club. The result of the match was almost a foregone conclusion, the Dark teams getting home in every set Without being called upon to extend themselves. At the conclusion of the games cheers weft* given for the visitors, who heartily rclnrned the compliment to their entertainers. The following are the results of the sl*1& : MEN’S SINGLES.
