Agricultural and Nature Study
A CANADIAN APPOINTED. Per United Press Association. AUCKLAND. March 21. At the Board of Education to-day it was reported that thirty-seven applications had been received lor the position of Instructor in Agriculture and Nature Study. Eight of the applicants wore New Zealanders, one was a Canadian, and twentyeight were English. '1 he candidate recommended by Mr George was the Canadian applicant, Mr Vincent W, Jackson, 8.A., who was appointed.
Mr Jackson is the son of a farmer, and was educated at Smithville High School, and at Hamilton Model School, and Collegiate Institute. He graduated as? teacher at Ontario Normal School with special distinction in science, and graduated in manual teaming at McDonald Institute. lie had six years' experience as a teacher in public schools, whore he gave great attention to sthool gardens and Nature study. At Queen’s University he took his D.A. degree with first-class honours in science, and spent two summers in England to study English methods. At present ho holds the position of demonstrator in the Department of Botanv and Geology, of the Ontario Agricultural College.
