As Miss Price was leaving on Tuesday morning a ’ farewell social was tendered her on Monday evening in recognition of the e teem in which she is held try the residents of the disi ot. Ltuilng the evening the chairman called upon Mr Karl to make a presentation lo Miss Price on hehalf of tne residents. This duty was ably discharged the speaker remarking that Miss Prici Possessed the qualifications which made her a general favourite, the friend of all. the enemy of none. Mr Kr.rJ then presented her with a purse of sovereigns and an address which read as follows : ■ Uu Mice’, c of your departure from Athol we, the undersigned residents, ask yon to accept this small present as a token of the esteem and respect in which yon are held hy them. Wc Vish you Codspeed and every success in life.” Here followed a list of the names ol the residents. Mr Clodo suitably replied on hehalf of the recipient. Mr Hn'ris, an old resident, congratulated Mr Clode on his choice, sating that like the footballers of her father's native land (Wales) she could not" be beaten. Mr McLennan predicted an experience for Mr Diode unlike that of tho Chinaman wh) gave a clTgymnu a pig to marry him, nml in twelve months offered two pigs to be unmarried. A vote of thanks to the chairman, with cheers for Miss Price. Mr Clode, and the Indies, brought a most plessuiit evening to a close.
