The Mines Department notified that a grant of £3OO had been authorised lor the Colac-Hound Hill road. A deputation of the Town Board was received. —It was resolved that a deputation of tho Council meet the Town Board and arrange that ft branch of the hunk he o[ftned daily at Otautau ; deputation to consist of Councillors Affleck, Clarke, Ilyor, Cupples and tho chairman. T. Howard, Orepuki, requested that the engineer he instructed to inspect the road at his place and report to tho Council— Received. Messrs Butler and Bonnan requested that some gravelling he done on the road lending to their farms.—Received. .lohn Bison, Scott's Omp. called attention to the bad road nt his place. Two chains of metalling were required, and be offered to find nnd supply and cart the nmtenial at Us per yard.—Accepted. .Michael Burke wrote re outfall drain, anti asked the Cotmeil to get the oecnpier of the land adjoining to clean out the outfall so ns to enable him to drain his land.—Members (or rilling to visit and
report. Extension of time was granted to Mr .Vuttall for completing works on the Colac-Uound Hill road. William Saunders tasked " that a fair share of the advertising and printing done by the Council be given lo the Otaut.au Standard newspaper.”—Referred to finance Committee. Councillor Dyer presented petition from dames Eaton and three others requesting the Council to have the gate on DiptonHolmcsdalo road removed, ns it was a nuisance. There being only four signatures to tin* petition, the Council took Ifl* action. Councillors AlllcCk, Clarke, Dyer, King. Cupples and the chairman were appointed a committee to attend to the interests of the Council in connection -with the N./. Exhibition. It was resolved that the registration feu for dogs bo the same as for last year -viz.. 2s lid for sheep and cattle dogs, and As for others. It was resolved on the motion of Councillor Hirst, that the engineer and member for the riding Report upon the application of .T. Elliott, Wakapatu, re closing of tho rood. tin the motion of Councillor Cnpplcs, n committee, consisting of the chairman. Councillor Dyer and the mover, was appointed to wait on the bank re rate of interest charge. instructions went given to invite applications for the position of ranger for the Orepuki Hiding. Councillor King stated that he had received a telegram from William Haicd. offering to cart and crush metal at a reasonable price.—Accepted. On the motion of Councillor Hirst, the following sums were voted : —Footpaths in Orepuki township, £2O ; extension of I’rintz's road, £lO ; roadline from main road through section* ID, 11, 13, and 10, block 2. Longwood. £2O; road'leading to section 31 in block 4, £3O; Rurikoko toad, 020 ; boundary road to Meagre’s section. ClO—total, El4O. Accounts amounting to £lO3l l'os 2d were passed for payment, and the Council adjourned. A special meeting of the Council was held at noon to decide the day of the statutory half-holiday, uttd it was resolved that Wednesday afternoon le the statutory closing day.
