Per United Press Association. AUCKLAND, Jan. 23. A thunderstorm occurred to-night. Lightning struck a shed at Arch Hill, ran along a clothes lino to a .shop, and tore oil some spouting, then passed across the road, entered the /rout door and wont out at the back door, both being open, of a house and struck a gum tree in the yard, scorching the bark. Mr Stewart, C.E., arbitrator in a dispute between G. E. Tuck and the Harbour Hoard fn connection with a dredging contract in 1902, has awarded Tuck £lß9l out of £2829 claimed. The Harbour Hoard pays £225 12s (5d costs. DUNEDIN, Jan. 23. The result of the ballot of the N.Z. Employers' Association regarding the labour conference is incomplete. So far the votes are —For the conference : Canterbury, Napier and Masterton ; against : Otago, Southland, Wanganui, Auckland and AVcllington.
