AUCKLAND, Oct. 27

A Taumarunui telegram states that the passenger train was stopped at Tekuiti by floods, the rails for a distance of two miles being covered. All traffic is stopped. NELSON, Oct. 27.

Almost Continuous rain has fallen this .week. It culminated last night in a torrential downpour, and lowlying portions of the city were flood-, ed. The water got into many cellars, and in Hardy street and parts of Bridge street up to back doors of shops. Business is “suffering severely owing to the continuous jwet weather. The damage from the flood is not serious.

CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 27.

The rain in .North Canterbury has been continuous since Wednesday and the rivers are in flood. At Flaxton where the overflow from the Eyre had spread from the north branch of the Waimakariri, the farms were covered to a depth of two feet on the west side of the railway and the flood was finding a way through openings of the line to the farms at Camside. The .flood brought down a cow and some ewes and lambs were seen passing down the river with quantities of debris. Floods have also occurred in Lake Ellesmere district and torrrents of water were yesterday falling down the gullies between the hills in that locality.
