Rainfall for August
After an unusually fine winter a wet amt stoilny spring was prophesied by niuny, but the fine weather continued almost without a break, and August was another month of abundant sunshine with light winds and little rain. The sun shone on all days but one, the 31st, and only one one other day did it shine dor less titan one hour. The best days were the 38th and 29th, with 9 hours 20 minutes each, and on 10 days tmore than 8 hours were recorded. Hain fell on 1-1 days, but on six of these was so light that they could hardly be called wet days. The temperature was generally high for the season of tlbe year, only on 10 days falling a degree or two below freezing point, the lowest recorded being DStlcg. F-. on the Ist and on the bth the tirnperkituirf on tihe grass fell to 20deg. owing to hail lying on the ground. The highest temperature reached was 62deg; F. on the 7th, tho next being OOdeg. on the 21st and 2-7th. The following is a comparison with August of last year : August 1901.
